Okay here is the problem I was driving and I hit the bump.. the ground on that part was higher than the other parts of the ground and I hit this bump which I am pissed about.. but I realized that something was wrong with my car when I got home so I called my friend so that he could help me locate were the problem was... well my problem is either the Catillac Converter or the exhaust.. my friend thinks it is the exhust which he is probablly right cause he had the same problem before.. but my question is: how long can I drive without getting my exhaust or Catillac Converter replaced before my car dies or stops wanting to drive?

First, not to be a dick, lots of people make this mistake, *Catalytic Converter. * Second, forever mang. I am about to replace my Cat with a test pipe. You will throw a CEL. (check engine light) but as far as I know that won't fuck your car up, I am not sure though. But you are good man, your car won't suddenly die or anything.

and that's assuming that it is indeed the cat that's messed up. Just FYI, the only difference driving with no cat makes is it makes it louder, and you might smell a little bit of fuel fumes. If something's noticeably wrong, it's probably something bigger than just your cat. You might have knocked your exhaust manifold loose, which is no huge deal.. you might have broken the seal on your oil pan, which is a BIG deal... I would get under your car and have a look before going anywhere.
Waitaminit you didn't even know what a cat is.... take it to a shop and let them look at it to be sure they find it.

imsoyesterday, his CEL might not come on if its OBD1, we both have OBD2 because they switched from the b16a3 to the b16a2 in 96. if his is older it is OBD1.

True that, but I looked at his profile, he has a 1993, chances are it is no VTEC. But I don't know which ECU that has and if it will throw a CEL

Any OBD2 ecu will throw a code if the cat messes up. OBD1's not so much. It all has to do with the o2 sensor location.
