any civic faster than tsi?

A kid wants to race me i got a stock 91 tsi he has a civic hatch with exhaust... not sure what year.... but could any hatch beat me?

Stock for stock, no..... If it's modded and your stock. It's possible. Make sure he's only got the exhaust and no engine swap and he's lunch meat.

he said he did an intake manifold job... dunno what that means, so how much would have to upgrade any hatch to beat my tsi

There's always a way for someone to be faster than someone else bro. Only way we can help you in this situation is if we know exactly in each car. If your Stock with a test pipe. And he's stock with headers and exhaust, you'll win. It he has any engine swapped in, such as a B16A2, It could go either way. B17, he might win. B18C1 he will win. B18C5, your doomed. H22, Your demolished. You need to find out what exactly he's running in that car becuase like someone said earlier, There light as heck man.

Unfortunetly no one here can dyno your car using their Internet connection. We can assume, but assumptions are the mother of all f**k up's. Go get your car dyno'ed, race the civic, and your questions will be answered. Do you think I can beat my friends prelude that has intake, exhaust and cam's? (get the point).

After I put on my 3 inch exhaust and some injen piping(6,7 months ago) I raced my friend who had an integra B20(2.0 liter) with hks cams, greddy exhaust, and 550cc injectors on a non-turbo car! He killed my ass and I burned up my clutch in the process :banghead: And before my dsm I had a b18c1 civic and that thing was deffinitely real fast for a honda. Deffinently don't under-estimate their power; they have lots of potential.

THe trouble with the Honders is the weight advantage. Here's a scenario from 2001 or so. I had the 95 GSX with 2.5" turbo back and Filter running 14.6s (at the time, got down to 14.3 with the same mods). The ex GF had a '00 Civic Si with a Vortech Supercharger and relavant mods, header, and catback. She took me out in the first round of eliminations at Rockingham in NC. I did the work on the car and taught her how to launch, so I didn't feel TOO bad :D Later that year she ran 13.4 :22yikes: Naturally I couldn't have that and promptly put the car in the 12s :flipa: So you can say its all due to a Honder that I finally ran 12s. Strange...

Moral of the story, they can be made fast if the owner knows what he/she is doing. Don't let the 99.9999% of them that are slow skew your judgement. ;)

b18c1 is the engine is the engine that he is running.... hopefully he doesn't know how to drive lol

That's the gist of the whole deal, pretty much, in all races/cars. Which is why motorbikes are psycopathically fast. I have a lot of respect for hatches and CRXs. Not much to look at compared to any Eclipse, that's for sure :lol: but they can hand out a whipping at the track or otherwise. Theyre sardine cans with a motor, compared to the cow 2G I drive :grinno:, so when my neighbour commented on how my car looked "nice", but he could "hang" with me, or even take it out in his hatch, I just gave him a thumbs up. :bigthumb:.

Their a guy out at my local track running a b18 all motor in the low 12's. Looks can decieve. He's put more then a couple hours or wrench time into his getto civic. 14:1 comp, fully built valve and powertrain.

With this kid it is kind of hard to tell.. he says he doesn't have a turbo, but i know for a fact his family is loaded and he and his brother are into cars.... but to the extent of whats done to it is unknown... meaning i need horsepower fast......

.... bro with that b18c1 in that hatch, you gonna have a hard run. The B18c1 comes from the Integra GSR which has about 170 hp or so.

My friends up in escondido build these honda hatchback racers using built up ls vtec engines. They are unbelievably fast even without a turbo system. I have ridden in his old car many a times and it was simply an lsvtec with a afc, cams, just a header for exhaust, intake and what not. Simple bolt ons and a 75 shot of nos on the pedal and even when not squeezing that thing was ridiculous. His new car is a ls vtec that has been built up internally, sleeved, head ported and polished, and a huge turbo(don't ask what kinda because I have no idea, I just know it a bashur racing one) I think that thing is going to have close to 500hp in a little freaking hatchback. Pretty incredible stuff for a tin can on wheels.

in my school there is mostly hondas and most of my friends own them 2 of my friends have turboed 1g eclipses but one of my friends hatchback has a b16 a1 vtec and 2.5" exhaust i think and he killed on of the 1g turbos. i have quite a bit of respect for hondas but none the less my broter has a prelude with an h22 and i am gonna race him when i get my turbo in and everything. i also have to race my other brothe who has a camaro and he flat out told me last night "chad your gonna win" im just like yeah i know lol

Well im sure i would have added horsepower with 3" turbo back exhaust and a ported 2G manifold.... im getthing the manifold next week... but my homo erotic neighbor wont cough up his suspension and his exhaust because he isn't sure if he wants to keep his car yet im sure the manifold and exhaust would help me race, what type of Horsepower improvment wount that make?

Basically any car can be made fast with the right kind of money and knowledge. There will always be someone out there that is faster then you. In the 70's & 80's people where putting 350 small blocks into gremlins and chevette's, plus other nonsence. The only problem with this was it wouldn't take long for a small block to fold the frame's on car's like that.

Ask to see his engine and pour sand in the oil filler when he's not looking. And don't race for money dipshit, this isn't the fast and the furious and you're not Vin Diesel (I am).

hey,,, are you still running stock boost?! i didn't see any mbc or ebc listed for your mods, and one of those could help out a great deal (40$ or i think you can make your own), then just practice your launches

Yea man get a guage. Glowshift has gauges for cheap. Got mine off ebay for like $25. Does the trick and has 7 diff colored lights to choose from(haha). You dont want to guess what boost your running at! Get down on that. With dsm's its more of a fact as..does your car run good and is it leaking boost? Get it running good at a safe psi for your set up. Dont talk shit on him, make it a friendly race this way who ever loses its no big deal. You can always race again next month or so after getting a few mods added. It will be a good experience/learning process. Have fun and dont rush into things like racing with a mbc on and no "aftermarket" gauge. That should be your 1st priority(spelling) over all other mods. Good luck, be smart.

yeah the only thing about civics is theyre so light, i read in a mag that a k20 (or whatever) swap puts one of those newer civics into the high 12s with only 220hp, and the new civics are way heavier than the old ones from what i hear.

well he hasn't talked to me about racing.... but i drove past his car when he was flooring it... it is loud as hell but i mean if he knew about the engine in his car... and knew that the tsi doesnt have 200HP wouldn't you think he would be all over this race?

Not the 1G. came with 190 at the flywheel. 2g eclipses came with 210 at the flywheel in manual.
