i have a 94 honda civic ex 5sp that i plan on doing a motor swap to very soon. I have recently found a 98 b18c motor,tranny,obd2,33k,etc. complete swap for about $900. I really wanted to get a b18c1 gsr motor instead of the jdm motor. My car was made in canada, what i am asking is would it be harder to put a jdm motor in compared to a usdm motor like what would it take or is everything the same? And is this price of $900 for the b18c somewhat to good to be true? all the b18c1 swaps i have priced are $3k-$3500. I have searched this site and cant quite find what im looking for. i need some advice please, im sure the b18c wont last for long at that price.
i also plan on rebuilding and slapping a turbo on my motor later down the road and i understand that the b18c1 is a better canidate since it has lower compression is there any other differances?

There will be no difference between swapping a JDM and US/CDM b18c engine. The only thing you'll have to worry about is the OBD difference from the engine and your car (engine = obd2, car = OBD1). $900 sounds damn good, but check to see exactly what it comes with and the condition of the engine. The slightly more compression of the jdm engine won't matter too much.

ended up bidding motor to $2500. sold for $3000. I decided to buy one from a company instead. I want something that is guaranteed start up. Thanks for the good info i didnt know they are almost the same swap. I think im going to get the gsr motor instead though.

They both have about the same #s so I wouldn't see why you favor a B18c1 so much more...actually a B18c has more power than a B18c1...

im not favoring the gsr motor but on this web site i was looking at purchasing a motor from i thought it was a gsr motor. http://www.jdmcustoms.com/b18c031.html . but it says-B18c jdm (B18c1) and for the car it says-jdm intergra gs-r (sir). why the would it say both? says comp. ratio 10.6:1 though so it should be a jdm right? If they is a better place to buy complete swaps please let me know.

On that site, they're just trying to make sure people realize that it's the jdm equivalent of the GS-R engine and not to confuse it with the other b18c (the Type R that shares the same engine code). And yes it is the JDM one on that site, it has 8-10 more hp than the USDM version.

Check out www.hmotorsonline.com (http://www.hmotorsonline.com) and www.passwordjdm.com (http://www.passwordjdm.com). Also make sure to get the OBD1 version, it will be easier to swap in regards to the wiring.
