Gas was coming out of Exhaust

I have a 1990 Eighty Eight. The other day it was like it was not getting any gas. Then it was ok for the past 2 days. Tonight it did it again but there was an awful smell of gas. I found a vacuum hose off in the back of the engine. After putting it back on it started ok but still seemed a little rough.
Then I started smelling gas again. Smoke starting coming out of the exhaust. When I shut the car off the tail pipe was smoking and there was gas on the ground.
Found another vacuum hose off the canister.
I am just letting it sit now but would the hose off the canister cause this to happen.
I just got this car 3 months ago and it has been running better than a new car.
HELP....I'm a female and like most I know where to put the gas and the check the oil.
Thanks

Do not run this if you are sure this is gas not water condensation, and how are all these hose sdisconnected? Have someone look at this, raw fuel can lite up the catylytic convertor. Check what is coming out of the tailpipe, raw fuel has an obvious smell compared to water.

Well there was condensation on the ground. It sure smelled like gas. Don't know how these hoses came off. Once they were connected the engine ran smooth again. Hoping if this was gas that it will evaporate.
I have asked a few people and they never heard of gas coming out of the exhaust. I was told that the condensation would smell like gas because of the build up.
Maybe these hoses were lose to begin with when I bought it. This is the first time this has happened. You cannot even hear this car running. Sometimes I think it has stalled.

I will check that as well. Quite a few have said it is the head gasket but I did a lot of research and in about 6 or 7 cases it was the fuel pressure regulator.
Now you asked about CEL. OK I give up. I'm a female. What is that?
I had a mechanic tell me to take the cap off the radiator and if water shot out when you try to start it that it is the head gasket. This didn't happen.
Guess it will have to go and get checked so I can find out what the problem is.

The CEL is the service engine soon light that comes on when there is a malfunction in the engine. It will glow yellow and is annoying when driving. If you are not seeing a lot of steam out of the exhaust and there is no water in the oil and the car runs alright then there is probably nothing wrong with your car. The gas smell is probably a little unburned fuel that is mixing with the water from the convertor and is being drained from the exhaust with the condensation.

No the CEL is not on. It is running but white smoke is pooring out of the exhaust and the gas is also coming out of the exhaust. It's running but I wouldn't drive it with raw gas coming out. I figure it will end up catching on fire. Also before all this happened a few times when I went to accelerate it was like there was no gas the car wouldn't move. I thought it had stalled but when I stepped on the gas again it went. This happened around 3 times before the smoke started pouring out and the gas was coming out so I do believe there is some kind of problem. There is no water in the oil.

Based on your last post I would have to believe that you have a blown head gasket. The gasket is allowing both fuel and water to enter the exhaust stream. The only way to fix the problem is to remove the head from the engine have it resurfaced and then a new gasket installed. It is not cheap to have this done at a dealer or a garage. If you continue to drive it you will also damage the catalytic convertor.

If it is truly raw gas coming out of the exhaust you most likely have a stuck open injector. This happened to my daughter's '98 intrigue with a 3.8 motor. After replacing the injector it smoked for quite awhile before the gas burned out of the exhaust.
If you are getting a lot of white smoke it could be an internal coolant leak as well, ie headgasket, intake gasket, etc.
Either way, especially if it's fuel, approach this with caution!

I have had this problem - it was the car computer injector switches keeping one fuel injector open all the time. I bought the car in this condition and let it idle for two hours before it quit smoking. I had a miss and heavy raw gas smell and whitish cloud out the exhaust. I also had an engine block full of gas.

Thanks for everybody's help. The baby is running again. The problem just in case anybody else out there has this problem was 2 bad fuel injectors. Got it back today and it's just like new again.
Thanks again
