Resetting ECU

Are there any real performance gains from doing this??

No.

The reason you would want to reset the ECU is if you advanced timing, installed a pop or CAI, a new header, cams, exhaust, etc. The ECU has to relearn the change in timing, the air/fuil mixture from the intake, the change in exhaust flow exiting the car and/or the change in the cam durations.

It will just help keep things running smoother.

Just a side note:

It'll take about 20-30 mins of driving the car for the ECU to start using the upgrades properly!

It's all based on personal opinion. I try to always reset the ECU every upgrade. It only takes 5 mins or less.

right.

I actually tried it to see what would happen. Here is what I found: after driving around town with the ac on the car felt sluggish--resetting the cpu removed that feeling. also the car felt a little quicker even with it being full of passengers.

Now it could have been me, but my friend also drove it and noted how much peppier it is.
