81 Delta 88 dogging out

I have a 1981 Delta 88 with 180000 miles on it. It has run perfectly for 3 years until a week ago. When the engine is cold, it will start and idle just fine. When I step on the gas, it will start acting like it is not getting any gas. I changed the fuel filter and that didn't do anything.
Any help would really be appreciated.

You changed the filter in carb inlet line?

Yeah it was the one in the carb. Also checked all the vacuum lines, etc.
My girlfriend has an 83 Buick with the exact same engine and everything, so I may try swapping carbs to see if that helps.(she can't drive right now)

ok new symptom. It will now do it all the time, and when I step on the gas, even in park, it will run fine and act like it is out of gas. Does anyone know how much gas the fuel pump is supposed to pump at any given time? thanks.

I suspect you have dirt in the primary carb metering circuit.
When the fuel filters get blocked on these carbs, dirty fuel can flow around the blocked filter and into the carb.
Your carb will need rebuilding. I would also suggest installing a larger, aftermarket fuel filter between the tank and the fuel pump. If your tank is starting to rust and sending debris to the carb, the tiny carb fuel filter will be blocked up quickly, leaving you with the same problem.

SOLVED THE PROBLEM!!!!!!!!
It ended up just being the fuel pump. Never saw one go out quite like that before. It was pumping plenty of fuel when me and a friend looked visually a week ago, but when we put a pressure gauge on it, we had almost none. it was weird. Thanks anyway guys!!!

well, if something close to the same thing happens.. idle funny, try checking the air filter and the fuel injectors
