2003 celica gt-s vs 2002 v6 mustang

ok i have a bet with this guy that has a 2003 manual gt-s celica bone stock. i have a 2002 manual v6 mustang with an intake and exhaust.
i was wanting some of ur thoughts on who might win in 1/8 and 1/4 mile......

GTS' can break into the 14's stock. I'm assuming a stock v6 mustang would run somewhere in the mid 15's. Hopefully those mods of yours helped.

Actually it's the other way around. FWD vs. RWD.

Ya, you would be better from a stop since you have more torque and are RWD. The Celica is only good at high revs. However, it has the same amount of power as you and weighs noticably less, unless he is a shitty driver, he should win.

well your car runs a mid 15 stock, most of the time people say a gt-s runs a high 14 stock. idk how much your mods will help... but i think hes gonna win. keep us posted on the results im actually quite interested, seeing as how i have a v6 mustang. and hopefully this race happens... and your not just getting opinions

Back to the topic, your mods can help you out (if you know how to drive stick well)... Not saying that you cant, but still either way, my friend has a stock 02 gt-s, and its a pretty fast car... so I'm going to go with the celica... just because I dont really favour F.O.R.D's...

FWD RWD who cares if your both underpowered? I've seen stock integras pull 2.0's at the race track, and rwd cars run consecutive 2.3's and 2.4's. Unless of course your all wheel drive then I don't think it's going to be much of an advantage on the street. Don't get me wrong RWD kills FWD on launches, but with as little power as you both have it won't matter much, I think its more up to the driver. BTW Id go with the gt-s.

the bet was for 100 bux but yall have changed my mine alot. now i have beaten a 2004 man. v6 titburon and at a 70 mph rollin start i stay right beside gt mustangs till about 110..... but i have seen the way this kid drives and he drive ok but he isnt always consitain, but me not to brag or anything but i think i am alot better driver than he is but who isnt goin to say that ur not as good as a driver as someone else. ........but we are goin to run them tomarrow but i think we will just do it to see who wins . ill post the results later

v6 mustang. He can stay sorta close for a bit, but he wont be even

no really i can stick right beside of them for a while until i hit 105/ 110 i thought it was weird as hell too but w/e

top of 3rd gear (60-90) isnt bad in the v6... but i am also surprised by that... well post up those results, i think that gts is gonna beat you too tho...

Whenever a performance shop tells you 2 hours it really means 2 days - all the good performance shops are too busy to work on your car as soon as you drive it in. Also, your car will need to be dynoed to get the best out of a chip - 2 hours no way.

Yeah, you do that.

You have a damn good chance of running lean and frying a piston if you don't run direct port on that mustang with the way the intake manifold is laid out. Maybe you could get away with a 50 shot with no direct port. Also, you're going to have to run a wet kit too, since Split port V6 mustangs have returnless fuel systems. Also, to mount the bottle in the trunk, you have to drop the fuel tank to get access to run bolts into any holes you drill in the bottom of the trunk. It is WAYYYYY more than a 2 hour job. Me and 2 other guys were doing an install on one and it took us 6 hours to get the bottle mounted (in the back seat), solonoids mounted and wired and switches mounted (but not wired). That doesn't include running any of the line for the nitrous or installing the jets (which never got done btw)

if you want something cheap and fast and have the money to blow GO GHETTO and buy some BFGoodrich kdw-2's and put them on the rear wheels, then break them in reallly quick and practice your launches, if you don't have the money for those, sumitomo HTR+'s are what i've used for better than stock traction

well its only $100 right, thats probably less than a nitrous kit and def less than a new engine... just save up and get FI or build it N/A, dont go nitrous. unless of course you upgrade from your current set up

the most recent former v6 mustangs w/ 5 speeds run 15's, mid-high normally right out of the box

the gen before than had only 150hp and run 17's and 16's stock, i can't even imagin how slow the auto version was

both are manual...i know a guy w/ a 96 auto mustang v6 and its funny how much he believes his car is faster than mine

the GTS celica only comes in manual 6-speed to my knowledge

I've raced quite a few of the V6 Stangs and it really isn't a contest for me. This coming from a mid 15 sec Civic owner. So, I see no doubt there for the Celica driver.

Good luck against his car, those Celicas can be nasty, especially if he has nitrous (Heard of one running 13's w/ a 75 shot as I recall). They only weigh 2500 pounds, and have as much power as your V6 stang. It's gonna be up to you to win it, as your car is down on power to him (Power to weight ratio). No biggie though, as everyone loses once in awhile, or all the time if you are me :p

also, they did sell Celica GTS's with automatics, no clue why you'd buy one though since all of the GTS's advantage over the GT comes at RPM's that tale the auto forever to reach.

yea, they did sell them with automatic. i have dibs on the gt-s. jsut hope he doesn't know where his powerband is and how high to actually go when shifting. just make sure u dont lose traction off the line otherwise u know u lost 100 bux right away.

I have done this many times over. My wife drives a 2000 GTS 6-speed and my sister has a 2002 V6 Mustang 5-speed. Both my wife and I have run my sister multiple times and it is an ass raping.

Unless you get lucky and the guy in the Celica stalls at the line or shifts before the valve lift kicks in, you might as well give up.

well we were goin to meet at the drag strip thursday night but guess who didnt show.......yup he sent one of his friends with a v6 tiburon with a big bore throtal body with a 6 speed trany in it. soo i said what the hell. the gt-s and the tiburon are just about the same if the tiburon isnt faster. well i knew that in the long run he was goin to get me soo i had all my hopes on the hole shot which i got. now this track is only an 1/8 of a mile. but never the less i beat him soooo the guy with the gt-s call me today and said wait till next thursday. soo i guess i will get the race the gt-s next week, but i beat the tiburon
