hi guys..

l took my car to ''just brakes'' brake repair store. and they checked my car, the other day l went there again. aand they saiad to me. that they need to replace;front disc rotors, master cylinder, front disc brake clipers and front brake pads. and they chaarged me for these, 1000 bucks.

right away l got the car. l didnt make them to fix it, cuz l cannot afford right now. (DO YOU THIN THEY WERE TRYING TO TRICK ME?)

Anyway...

l took the car buick, pontiac dealer yesterday. and l left the car. today they called me aand they said that they needed to replcae 4 wheel brake pads and smooth the rotors. just for these 460 bucks aand also, they sid that there was a small leak, in the transmission hose or whtever. and they said that it was so dangerous, if it touchs the electric, that would burn blah blah.. and they saida that they would fix that leak for 120 bucks..

SO, DO YOU THINK THE DEALER IS TRICKING ME ?

4 wheel pads are like 50 bucks, and they are not even gonna replcace the rotors, and they are asking almost 500 bucks, that's redicilous..

anyway..

thank you so much...

It sounds like they are taking you for a ride, or at least trying to. If you know how to change your brakes then do it yourself and save the money. As for the transmission leak, I'd get that fixed right away as transmission fluid does burn quite nicely. As for a shop telling you that you need calipers etc they are just looking for money. I have 243k miles on my grand am, the calipers master cylinder abs pump rear wheel cylinders are all original, never had a problem with them. GM makes long lasting brake componets, even if they don't perform as well as some of the aftermarket ones like baer and brembo.

Dealer isn't tricking you at all.

Just the front pads alone are about $100 from GM, then double that to do all four. Plus the labor, and the turning of the rotors.
Most dealerships charge $200 (give or take) for a FRONT brake job.
I prefer to do it myself for $100. Well, the T/A is about $100, and the Grand Am is about $50.
