Hi, This is a bit complicated but I am looking for some general information. I am interesting in purchasing either a 944 or 951 and am wondering which is the better buy in the long run and how much I will be spending. Also, If I buy a 944 and purchase an engine from a 951, will it bolt up to the 944 transmission? What problems might I come accross? Any additional information would be greatly appreciated because I am very new to the Porsche world.
What is the differences between the 2.5 NA, 2.5 Turbo, 2.7 and 3.0 engines in terms of reliability, power, and such?
Thanks

Long question. What will the car be? DD, weekend car, track/autocross car? The n/a's are more reliable than the turbos. The 951 will be about twice as expensive as the 2.5 n/a. I have an n/a, and love it...but I got to drive a 951 about a year ago and am addicted to boost, I NEED a turbo. Don't just try to drop in a 951 engine. The tranny needs to be alot stronger and has different gearing. The 951 also has better suspension, brakes, trust me...there would be a LOT of work involved. The S is 16 valve and 2,5 and had about 180hp, good cars...just don't ruin the head. The S2 is a great car, n/a, 16 valve, 3.0, 200hp, just don't ruin the block. The 2.7 has just a little more power than the n/a...~150. It's really a matter of what your budget is, what you like, and what the car will be used for.
