recall on 2002 tacomas

is there a recall of 02 tacoma trucks for ball joint problems? i have not gotton a notice from toyota but why doesn"T that surprise me?

There was a recall that affected only certain models of the Tacoma, mostly Pre-runners and 4x4's if I remember correctly. There was a thread on this here:

I got my recall notice a couple of weeks ago and took it to the dealer last week. Took about 3 hours to get done. I don't recall seeing or hearing any reference to the non Pre-runner 2wd. I don't think the recall included every other truck made that year so it is possible that yours wasn't affected. If you want to be sure, just call up the Toyota dealer and give them your vin number and they should be able to tell you if it is part of the recall or not.
