alright.. iv looked around and cant seem to find out what i want. Im getting ready to swap out my d16 and put a b18c within the next couple months. i would like to boost it, but i dont want to pay for the full complete kit. i would like to do a frankenstein type of kit.
my questions are, one, what is a stock car with a bigger turbo within reason (9-15 psi, i know the late 90's eclipse turbos are SMALL!!) i wanna pay like 100$ for the turbo so im thinkin 1st gen eclipse/talon (14b) or somethin like that,
my second question is about boost. how much boost = how much hp... like if i were to add 7psi of boost, would it make 20hp? 50? like is there 1psi of boost = 10hp? or what
also, has anyone ever thought about takin a turbo off a diesel, they are like 15+psi, one for a cummins diesel is 25-35psi... or does it take too much exhaust pressure and the 4cyl cant pull it? please answer all the questions...im in need of help, any would be awesome... thanks!

You've got a DECENT engine for boost as is... Z6 Engines can handle around 7-8psi on stock internals for a good long time. However, if you're looking for some real power, I'd certainly go with a B-Series.
Basically it all depends on what you're trying to get out of the car... Are you looking for insane power? Is this car your daily driver? What's your budget?
Give us some more information, and we can help you out from there

alright, my 95 civic is my daily driver, gets me back and forth to school and work...here in the next year, it will be driven ALOT! so i would like to put a powerful n/a engine in it so i can have power and reliability, if i boost my 150,000+ mile d16, i have the feeling it will blow. it already smokes and covers my rear bumper with black sooty stuff...
my friend can get almost a full gsr b18c1 swap -axles($250) for $800, so im thinkin ill take that route here around christmas time. later i will then want to boost that, but im afraid of doing a cheap turbo kit and messing up an awesome motor...
another thing i could do is take my friends blown d16 for free and fully rebuild it with performance everything, but i dont think it will have the same power capabilities as a b18, i love the dohc ... i would LOVE to make a 250+hp daily driver/ sleeper (and eventually it !WILL! happen)... im thinkin about putting 2,000$ back for just my motor, either the b18, or d16 and parts
i already have an 01 eclipse muffler(quiet, flow thru, but also loudish) and here soon, a cold air...and at tax return time im getting dropzone shocks with tein s.tech springs.. thats it for exterior..
so i want the best motor for reliability and power... what do you guys think?

Any B-Series axels will suffice just fine... I'm just curious as to where you're getting a GSR Swap for $800 from. Chances are, it's nothing pretty.
And yeah, if your Z6 is burning oil, don't boost it

I'll believe it when I see it... Don't be surprised to run the VIN's and see in the report "Vehicle Stolen 08.24.05, not recovered."
Just saying, the deal sounds VERY sketchy.
