how to remove rear speakers

i have a 98 gt and i want to put different speakers in the rear but i dont kno how to take out the stock speakers and i want to put in a different HU but i dont want to lose my steering wheel controls or my 12 disc cd changer. I need help. Thanks!!

For the rear speakers, the first step is to remove the rear lower and upper seat cushions. The lower seat cushion will have two pull straps located at the bottom. The upper is secured by bolts.
After that you'll need to carefully unfasten the rear package/speaker tray assembly. It's held down by retainers. Good luck!

thanx it worked!! now i know how to put my Pioneer HU in but how can i connect it to my steering wheel controls and 12 disc changer, if it is possible?????????????

You can buy a controller unit thru Crutchfield that works with almost all aftermarket stereos with IR remote controls to make your steering wheel controls function. I don't believe that it will show the stations on your heads-up display though if your car is so equipped. As far as the OEM cd changer, I'm sure someone makes an adaptor, but I I haven't seen one yet

Yeah, that was the only reason why I didn't switch over my Satellite Radio from my old truck when it was totaled :(.
I don't know what I could do without steering wheel controls. Those OTHER cars were like controlling stereos back in the stone age.

$60 should let you keep your steering wheel controls. I was looking at this same thing to use with my clarion deck, haven't bought it yet so I can't really offer any feedback.
