shift linkage

I been having trouble lately in getting the key out as sometimes i don't hear it engaging into park . I usually have to wait and it will release after some time and then i can get the key out. I have read the posts concerning the shift linkage. do you think i can just lubricate them and if so what is the best way to get at them to do it or do you think an adjustment is in order. Thanks

Do you have an automatic? If you do, it sounds like a problem with the neutral / safety switch. - it's not recognizing that it's in park.
