Hello To All,
I have a 98 k 1500 5.7 cali. The truck feels like it is surging a little at highway speeds and should have more get up and go. It does have a lift and 35's but I put in 4.56's and a hypertech(minus engine performance)to help out. I checked the static fuel pressure, Or at least I tried to, I turned the key and and watched the gauge go up and then back down to zero after the 2 sec pump run at key on. What did it get to? I dont know, all I know is the fuel pressure bled off quickly? SUSPECT fuel pump check valve? Ok so now I did the engine running test. At idle the fuel pump is putting out 54psi, when I blip the throttle the pressure goes to ~61-62psi. <--- is this acceptable findings? Also, I have the k&n fipk2, I am thinking of taking off the hose that is after the mas that goes to the valve cover and capping the hole in the inlet duct work. The pcv is in the other valve cover. The pcv fits loosely in the valve cover. <--- Bad? Also the hose from the inlet duct tubing on the otherside which has the hose after the mas that goes into the valve cover is a little loose also. What is this hose doing? If there is already a pcv in the other valve cover that is connected to the intake, why is there a hose sucking oil fumes from the other side. Or do they work together? I do not like the hose on the duct work side, it is after the mas, and this could suck air into the TB that was not measured and cause a lean condition which may be contributing the over all lower performance condtion of the truck. Any thoughts? thanks for your time.
