Car for New Driver

My girl-friend will soon be another new driver on the road. What type of car would be best for a novice driver? I'm looking for something thats safe, reliable (not to costly to make repairs), fuel friendly, something thats not gonna have her stranded on the side of the road. A small four door car would be her type. I was thinking along the lines of Accord, Camry (maybe a little to big though), Cavalier. Not looking to spend to much since this would be her first car and she is a novice driver. Around $2500. Anyone have any other suggestions????

Those are good choices. The only other suggestions would be along those same lines, a Civic, Corolla, Lumina, Escort, Taurus, Senta, Maxima anything like that will be good.

I think an Accord would be a great choice. It fits into every category you mentioned, and she has the choice of a 2dr or 4dr.

90-93 Accord, it fits into every category you mentioned, plus its extremely reliable, and has decent performance, good on gas, and simple to own and drive.

Get a Geo Prizm. Great little cars, very durible (they hold up to my abuse, had it for about 7 months.), rather cheap to repair and great on gas. On about 20-25 dollors in fuel and I get 250-300 miles per tank. just my 2 cents
