Welcome n344. No havnt heard this one. Did you hook all the hoses back to the correct corasponding hose? Did you reattach all the wires/plug-ins? Check the relay/fuses, they could be the problem.
One thing I forgot to ask, why did you replace the fuel pump if it ran fine before you installed the new one? Just wondering.

thanks for trying, the fuel pump had quit.it was definetly bad.this was also diag. @ a shop.the engine is getting fuel but it runs real rough and will not respond to the accelerator, like it is just getting flooded.it has also surged on it's own.i will be going thru the ignition system check as prescribe in a haynes manual.just thought maybe i could get a shortcut to the problem if someone has seen something similar to this problem.thanks for any help or ideas.

Are you sure that you have purged all of the air out of the fuel system? If you still have some air in there that could be your problem. When you turn the key to run the fuel pump should run for 30 seconds, run it thru a few cycles, see if that helps. I would think this is your problem, but if not read on.
After you have determined it isn't fuel related (replaced filter, checked ohms on the injectors). There is one more fuel problem that could be causing this, the fuel pressure regulator at the end of the fuel rail, im not sure where the valve is to check the fuel pressure but that is also a common problem with these cars. (its not on the fuel rail like all other cars)
Then would check for spark on all 4 cylinders. Your obviously getting spark or it wouldn't fire off at all, the quad motors are known for the coil housing going bad. Take the coil housing cover off connect some spark plug wires to the housing, hook 3 up to the plugs, attach a spark tester to the 4th. If you find 2 that aren't sparking its most likely a coil, 1&3 or 2&4. If you get spark now and then from the same plug it could be a crank position sensor. (usually a cheap fix, but they swell up in the block & usually break trying to get them out, not fun since its undere the intake)
Let me know what you find out and maybe that will tell me what else it could be. Hope some of this info helps.
