Intake Question

I had a custom intake pipe make for my Eclipse GS to put the filter close to the ground. Should I be worried about water getting in if its raining real hard as long as I dont drive through deep water? I wanted it down where it could get as cool air as possible.

you should be fine as long as it doesn't rain too much or flood but k&n makes intake covers incase it rains hard

Be very careful. I have the AEM cold air intake, and the filter is literally sitting at the bottom of my bumper. There have been several times where I was afraid of sucking up water, just make sure you stay off the throttle and go very slow. Avoid big water puddles if possible. There is a baypass valve that some people use, but I have heard it reduces hp gains by quite a bit, so I never bothered with it. Just use good judgement, and sit out the storm if possible.

Definately for dry conditions only. I wouldn't use that in a hard rain.

why risk it? Get the valve.

what kind of hp gains do you expect from an intake like 2hp maybe 3hp,,,,,and i dont think there is much difference between the cai or a short ram, maybe half a horse.

I agree.....^^^ Besides its a metal pipe the air is going to get hotter any way no point on risking your engine for the 1hp that you won't even notice
