What options does it have? Will it need any repairs before you can drive it? Does the motor run good? Check the engine for signs of head gasket failure, the 3.1's had a tendency for the head gaskets to fail when they get older. $1200 doesn't sound too bad for the car considering the low mileage. Try to see if he'll take less for it.

I was told by a mechanic buddy that my '92 3.1 would sell for $2,000 - $2,500 American. Mine has approx. 125k miles, and it's in good shape. I've added a performance muffler and air filter, but that's it.

If I could sell mine for 2 grand american, I'm sure 1.2k canadian ain't bad.

i have tried this car driving for about 40 min.
engine is very clean and doesnot need any repairs
i have to go and transfer vehicle and pay
i think for this price it is ok considering it is one owner and low kms

usually, they go more in Vancouver in range $2000-$3000 if they are in this good shape

Thank you! My first on this chat so thats my excuse but to help your answer. I just bought a 1995 lumina with 140k on it and it also handles and looks fine (no motor knocks or trans probs for sure). I bought it yesterday because I totalled my truck hitting a nice 9 pt buck here in Yale, Michigan. I was lucky to find a lady just putting her car out for sale. I ended up paying $950 US for the car and feel I got a great deal even with the miles. I think the most important thing here is you have to buy soon and thats not an easy thing to do when buying a used car. I got lucky at my buying price and I do believe you can drive that 92 for a couple of years and not have to worry much about losing any big amount of money as long as the vehicle holds up ok. It's tuff to buy quick and for a good price. The price really isn't bad for the circumstance you have. I'de go for it! good luck

Last week, I bought a '93 Euro 3.4 with a dented roof, and a broken right rear window. I paid $1500 American dollars.

Granted, the 3.4 engine makes the car more valuable, but that's kinda offset by the poor condition of the paint, the broken window, and the rust holes in the rocker panels.

I'd say $1200 Canadian for a 3.1 is a bargain if the car runs good and is presentable.
