Going to look at a 93 APV tomorrow

I happened to spot a 1993 Lumina APV on a used car dealer's lot in town today. I stopped in and looked at it. It needs 2 front struts, 2 front tires and a small bit of welding in behind the rear wheels. Both door handles seem to be broke or something, they won't open the doors. Inside, the carpet is rather dirty, but it didn't appear to be torn or ripped up. This van is just a base model, so no cruise or power windows and seating for just 5, which is fine by me. The van has the TBI 3.1 and 3 speed automatic transmission. How are these for fuel economy? How about reliability and comfort? I can't really tolerate being stuffed into a small car anymore, so I need something that has a lot of room and is easy to get in to and comfortable riding. The pricetag in the window of the van says $995, but I know if I went there with the money in my hand I could get it for a fair bit less.

you didn't say how many miles, but with all that is wrong with it, as well as the dirty condition, he's asking WAY too much. That's a $500 van at best. I would look elsewhere, as fuel economy with the 3-speed isn't that great (15-18 in town, maybe 22 highway). Since the van is obd-I diagnostics, it is easy to unhook the battery and erase all trouble codes. This van sounds like a money pit that will give you much grief for years to come.

Yeah, anyway I went to look it over again a few days ago. I started it up, without a key, and it sounded like it was only running on 5 cylinders. Plus the rear struts are shot. I'll pass.
