my 92 passat is having some issues, i just put in a new starter however, the car now cranks but wont turn over, what should i check for on the fuel injectors? could it be the fuel pump? something else? should i just get a mechanic with a diagnostic?

Do you get a spark from the coil wire?

Removing the coil wire from center of distributor cap & placing near a ground. Then crank the engine and look for a spark jumping to ground.

Yes there is a spark, also when u pump the gas while cranking the car, it begins to turn over, but doesnt, a friend of mine having a similar problem with a porshe was told to change his fuel pressure regulator (very expensive).

After cranking for a minute pull a spark plug & see if it is wet with gas or dry. Can you hear the fuel pump running when you first turn the key to the run position?

yes i hear a whiring sound when i turn on the car, if its a fuel pump, i dont know, but i would imagine so, also, the plug is completely dry, but it smells of gasoline, but yes its dry

Dry after craning is actually better. Try spraying some starting fluid into the air intake while cranking to see if it runs for a few seconds.

ok, i sprayed it in the font hole of the air filter box, n no dice, nothing ounded different, also i foun out there is fuel in my fuel rail, so that means its not a fuel pump right, and finally, were is the air filter on my car because when i opened the box there was nothing there could that be a problem, also i have a friend that says he can rebuild my fuel pressure regulator would u recommend this? I appreciate all ur help ur like the king of german cars i have so many mechanic friends and their all baffled because i have a volkswagen

There should be an air filter in the air box. Spaying ether into the manifold should cause the engine to run for a moment, otherwise suspect a cap/rotor/plug wire issue. Make sure the spark is getting to the plugs. I'd think timing belt, but you wouldn't get spark if it broke, perhaps it jumped a few teeth. You need to check the marks on the flywheel & cam sprocket.
