I am having problems with the timing belt tensioner, I don t know how much has to be tensioned, I tensioned the timing belt all the way it was posible and I think is to tight it smells like burned ruber and the belt has burn marks on it, if I detension the belt it will slip or not?

There is a spring on a tab off the rear of the tensioner that hooks to a screw in the block. You should be able to relax the center bolt of the bearing and the stand-off that holds the slide (and is the center mount for the cover) and the spring should apply enough tension to the belt. I always give it just a bit more but that is about it. If the belt is burnt, I would get a new one since that one will more than likely fail soon.

That is a bearing? It does not rotate in my Geo so now I get it why it burns the belt because the belt just slides over and the bearing is frozen .
Hmm I feel stupid I was wondering why the tensioner does no rotate lol.
