2barrel to 4barrel

whats goin on i have a simple question... i have a 69 firebird with a 350 auto and a 1984 chevyvan with a 305 .... the van has a 4 barrell carb and the firebird has a 2 and i was wondering if i wanted to switch the carbs out if i could by changing them and the intakes ?? would everything bolt up?
its been killing me i've been wanting to know forever so any help would be appreciated and just another quick one what about the starter from the van??? would it transfer over ok? :banghead:

If it is a Pontiac 350 (original engine) then no, the Pontiac and Chevy intake manifolds (and most other parts) are not interchangeable. The other thing is, if you change the carb, to get the most out of it, you may need a cam change too. You have to be able to burn the extra fuel.

If the Pontiac 350, use the intake from any '68-'72 V8 with a Q-Jet. Good manifold. Good carb. You may need to enlist the help of a professional Q-Jet man to get the carb right. Don't be alarmed at horror stories about Q-Jets. Mostly, the problems come from a fundemental misunderstanding of how the carb s supposed to work and to be serviced.
You won't notice near the gain you expect unless you also change the cam. The 2-bbl. cam doesn't "like" that added CFM. Comp XE256H is an excellent chopice for a driver with smooth idle and a bit of power. Fuel economy will improve provided you practice self- (read: right foot) control.

so it wont bolt up and if i do change it i need a cam ... shew didnt think of this stuff at first just kinda got excited when i thought about it
