My 1994 Toyota Camry sometimes at startup is revving up to about 2000 RPM's then it will idle down and stall. It does start right back up though. I also notice when I rev it up and let it almost idle back down and rev it up again it will hesitate before reving up. The car has a new distributor, plugs, plug wires, distributor cap rotor bug,. I have also cleaned the idle control valve, throttle body, and the EGR valve. Any ideas on what is causing this???? The car is a 1994 Camry XLE with a 2.2 4 cylinder........Thanks Jburgess55

My best guess, and it is just that, a guess, would be the ECT (engine coolant temperature) sensor. The ECU (computer) receives information from it to determine the engine temperature and therefor, the proper fuel/air mixture. When these go haywire many strange things can occur. You can test it with a digital volt/ohmeter using the manual at the top of this forum for the specs. You can also use the manual to show you how to test for trouble codes. I would try that first.

Did you run the diagnostics to see if any trouble codes are present?
