If you have the option of ordering from the net then try here, they may have what you want at a reasonable price, I have used them without any issues.

Are you talking about the new Shelby Cobra 500GT or the '60's version? I don't think anybody has released or announce the cobra version of the new mustang yet. IIRC, Revell is going to release the '05 mustang gt sometime this year. That's the only one I know of that you might be able to modify.

I think someone on here was selling a kit of the '67 Shelby GT500 (which is what I think you are talking about). It's the Eleanor version from the newer Gone in 60 Seconds. Other than that, I don't think it's been produced. I know Revell makes a '66 Shelby GT350H (Hertz Rental Car edition), and I believe Revell or some other company also made a '65 Shelby GT350R but I think thats well out of production.

As far as the new Mustang Shelby Cobra GT500 - whatever you wanna call it since the name isn't 100% finalized yet - you definately won't see that in plastics for several years, if it ever even makes it.

Actually Revell just re-issue the GT350H adn GT350R so you should be able to pick those up at your LHS.

AMT produced a 1967 GT350 Shelby Mustang kit with all of the correct 1967 Shelby bodywork. To create a correct 1967 GT500 you'd have to replace the engine with the correct big block and use aftermarket decals/photoetch for the GT500 logos and stripes.

As far as an "Eleanor", please don't. Just don't.

I think monogram released the gt500 in the 69, or 70 body, not quite sure, it's been several years since I built it, and can't remember what year it was.

Revell kitted a 1969 Shelby GT500 Mustang that was based off of their excellent (save for some grille inaccuracies) 1969 Ford Mustang 428CJ kit.

It's been reissued several times, most recently with a set of big diameter modern wheels and tires as part of the "Motor City Muscle" series of Revell kits.

There were no Shelby Mustangs produced after 1969 as 1969 was also the first year of the Boss, which took over for 1970 as the top of the Mustang range.

Thats almost sorta correct. There were 1970 Shelby Mustangs, but they were basically left over 1969 Shelby models still in Ford's inventory, and Ford officially retitled them as 1970 models. Also, in 1971 Shelby de Mexico produced a small number of Shelby Mustangs, and in 1972, a small number of Shelby Mustangs were produced for Europe. Also, for those of you who might remember a 1984 Mustang GT350... those were not real Shelby's! It was a package by Ford for the 20th anniversary, but Shelby forced them to stop using GT350 since he still owned the rights to that name, but a little over 5000 cars had already gotten out there.

Also, not sure if you realized, but the Boss mustangs were built by Ford while Shelbys were built by... Shelby. It wasn't really so much that the Boss took over for Shelby Mustangs...
