Well I just got my car back from the toyota dealer after the sludge incident. It runs great. I learned a couple of things, first take care of your car and get oil changes at the dealership if your car is prone to something like this(RECEIPTS). When the check engine light comes on DON'T ignore it. Lastly, it awesome to have forums like this with great info. That said, anyone have advice to keep this car in great shape henceforth. Thanks everyone for all your help.

Did they recomend that you now use fully synthetic oil?

The personal mechanic may have, but TMC does not recommend the use of synthetic oil, nor driving longer intervals on synthetic oil.
But... We all know that we all should. ;)
I just got 5 quarts of mobil1 synthetic @ walmart for $18 this past week. Good stuff!

when we went to pick up the car the service dept was closed it was saturday, but I plan on calling them tomorrow to ask about the oil among other things. That's why iI said I am going to take it to toyota for the oil change simply because if it screws up again they will have to take responsibility. I imagine they used toyota oil 5W30.
thanks
