The front corner turn signals on our 97 do not blink. when the lights are turned on they come on but when the turn signal is engaged, the light either stays lit with the lights on, or doesnt come on at all if the lights are off. anyone else have this problem? ive tried about 3 different bulbs and i cant figure out whats wrong, They have to work though theres no way ford made it to just be a parking light. The last bulb we tried was a 194 i believe and today i tried a few other bulbs that would fit and they all had the same effect. Oh and if it helps any the Front turn signals right beside the grill both work, and the signals in the back all work. there isnt any bulb that is broken/not working. the only problem is with the front corner/side marker turn signals. I have tried everything i can think of as far as different light bulbs go. am i missing something here??? is there a relay or something that could be bad? i dont even know where to start to look for the actual problem.

might sounds stupid but check online to see the correct bulb numbers for all 4 and also check that the connections inside the socket are clean. Don't assume or think that they are, just clean them.

I think the side marker lamps with the 194 bulb is not designed to flash when you turn your turn signals on. I have a 97, too and the single filament bulb is just the side marker. I have looked into the electrical schematic for your car and mine. The side marker is definately not designed to flash when you turn on your turn signal. It has just 2 wires going to it. One for the parking light positive and one for the ground. I believe that some of the escorts flash here when engaged but the 97 is not one of them.

Oh thats strange cuz I always thought that your car had to have it to pass safety inspections etc. But thanks for the help! I think that should be a safety hazard and should be recalled. I wonder if there been any accidents to blame on this..
