4 door B16a1 swap

I've got a 91 civic LX (4 door), and I'm going to swap in a B16a1 at a local performance shop. I was just wondering if anyone else has a 4 door with a B16 or a LS frankenstein engine, and what they think of it.

Even though its a 4 door... remember all the 4th gen cars are light as balls... should be pretty sweet. I dont know of anyone PERSONALLY with one, but I have seen them out there. Good luck with it -- how much yah spending?

91zc has a b16 in his 4 door

yeah - 91zc has one in his 4-door. It looks pretty good in there too.

He and I think the 4-doors weigh about as much as the Si hatch, so they should be equally quick.

One thing he noted was the hoods don't rub on the 4-doors when you swap in a DOHC motor. Sweet!! :D :cool: :flipa:

I have a b16a in my 4dr and I like it a lot. Very well worth my money. If I had the money I might have done a b18c or c1 motor, but that would have been expensive. I am sure you will enjoy it once you are done.:)

I was just wondering if there were any problems with the gauges after you put the B16 in, cuz doesn't the B16 redline a lot higher than a D15b? Would an SiR gauge cluster fit directly in my 4door? What kind of timeslips do you pull in with your B16 4door?

I am planning on using an aftermarket tachometer. The SiR cluster will physically fit but you have to use an electronic VSS for it to work properly. I pulled a 14.9 @92 the last time I was at the track which was about a month ago. Haven't been back since but I think it feels like it could go a bit quicker.:)

hey sorry im joining this chat late in the game but i also have a 91LX 4dr civic and im looking for a new motor. my dad wants to get the original motor (thumbs down smiley face). but i told him if im paying for it (which i am) then im gonna get what i want for a new engine. so is this b16a1 a japanese motor and do i have to buy it from somewhere in cali? or can i find one easy else where and what is the ZC engine, is it not the same block a 1.6? also i have a friend with a wrecked gsr integer.. and wants to sell the engine.. can i fit it in my engine bay?

The B16A is from the SiR model, released in Japan. The ZC engine is from the Si model, released in Japan. The B16A is about 165HP and the ZC is about 135HP (compare that to the US Si engine D16A6 @ 108HP). You should check out this link:
