Fuel Pump

I had a previous post where I mentioned that I was having some weird problems that I couldn't figure out. At first I thought that the problem was connections to the the computer, or possibly the TPS. However, I now think that the problem is the fuel pump. I always used to be able to hear the fuel pump for a couple of seconds when I turned the key on but before I actually cranked the engine over. It was a high pitched sound. I know it wasn't the auto ride leveler since I pulled the fuse for the air pump to be sure. Now when I turn the key, the I can hear the fuel pump for a few seconds, and it is a much lower (as in octave) sound. The SES light is not coming on but the car runs well for a few seconds, and then begins to run really rough with no power when you push down on the accelerator. I am thus concluding that the fuel pump is the problem. I am going to take it to a garage to have the fuel pressure checked, however, I was wondering if someone could tell me what the procedure is for changing the fuel pump?

MThelllo,,i would first replace the fuel pressure regulator,then the fuel filter,and last the fuel pump...a plugged filter will cause the car to run extremely bad..the pump can be accessed through the trunk..remove the carpet and you will see the trap door..a special tool is required to remove the retaining ring....

It was in fact the fuel pump. I replaced the pump and all is well!!!
