Hey there
I was wondering what tools i will need to remove a bad rear rotor on a 01 2wd and how deep do can the gouges get before I have to get a new one???

well I just changed mine on a 96 and all I needed was a hammer to just tap the rust loose and it came right off. not too sure how deep they can be I just replaced mine and they were expensive. for good one anyhow

The rotor will have the min. thickness stamped on it. You have to figure that if you turn the rotor down enough to get rid of the deepest groove, when your done, they have to be equal to or greater than the minimum thickness. Take it to an auto parts store and they will check it for you.

P.S. - go to at least 2 stores for an opinion on the final thickness. I once went to Murray's Auto Parts and asked them to turn the rotors and they said it was beyond turning. Took it to another store and they said, pick them up in an hour or so.

thank for the advice, all I hae to do i get the caliper out of the way n tap the rotor off? Other then drilled or sloted rotors, what i the difference in rotors? all the ones i priced are about 40$ or so.

well that is not too bad I got mine a napa auto parts and they were about 75 each but it depends on if you are going to toe a trailer or not I do so I got the ones just below the high Pro ones.
