amp

I have kenwood speakers that are 40W rms and right now they're being powered by my head unit which is giving them 19W rms. I have a kenwood 4-channel amp which is 60W x 4 rms, and 180W x 2 rms. Should I use this amp to power the four speakers or to power two subs?

this is really up yo you. if you think the speakers sound fine i would leave them and power the two subs, which is what i would do. They sound sound fine even with that amount of power.

What subs are you planning on powering with a 180x2 amp? I wouldn't think that the amp would be powerful enough to run 2 subs. Maybe 1, but i think 2 would be pushing it. anyways, personally I would use that amp to run the kenwood speakers, and get at least a 250x2 amp to run the subs. You can always turn the gain down as low as you want, but when the bass bug gets to you, you're going to want that extra power!

i think that it is up to you, the amp could power both the speakers or the subs. your bass wouldn't be huge, but it might be enough, depends on you though.

I think the amp is to powerful for the speakers. They will sound better running off your head unit and not as much chance of blowing them. They amp would be fine to run 2 subs. Just find some that are in the same power range as your amp. You don't need 2000watts to make a system sound good. All you need is the recommended power between amps and subs.
