Ok. well my problem is the ignition cylinder is goind bad. When i remove my key the engine doesnt always turn off right away, it keeps going for a bit til it realizes the key is out. But, what i want to do it wire a switch that must be in "on" mode for me to even start my car. Much like a kill switch. Along with this switch and how it must be "on" to turn my car on, im willing to be "off" mode would kill my engine right away, which is what i want control of, since my engine wont always turn off right away. Now, i know how to wire switches, iv done tons of them.. but what im asking about is what wire do i need to run the switch to. I see a lot of multicolored wires going right into the coil pack, and im willing to bet one of those is what i need. Its the 2.4l engine dohc. Thanks for the help in advance

Why not just replace the ignition switch? Sounds like an awful lot to remember, not to mention what happens if you accidentally bump the switch and turn it off on the highway or in traffic? Personally, I'd replace the switch, its not that difficult.

hey Tylerc, Thats krazy! Why would you want to mutilate your car like that? I hate it when people do shit like that. The switch is $43 at the Zone, so its a little expensive. But if you cut and nick any other wires, down the road, you or whoever will forever hav all kinds of electrical problems. But Ya you can cut the ignition wire and use a switch. Hell an auto store may even sell a 'kill switch' kit for racing/offroad purposes w/directions. Either way I would highly recomend NOT cutting anything. Just save and buy the switch :)
