powertrain overheating

my supercoupe started riding rough and i got some engine power loss, so i read the manual and it said that " when an overheating condition occurs, the EEC-IV processor will reduce speed by limiting fuel to the engine. when this happens you will notice a loss of power and a slight vibration. when your vehice returns to normal operating temps full power will be restored." Im not certain that this is the problem but when i get home at night and the car cools down all nite, i get up in the morning and it runs fine, i wouldnt know how to fix this problem, maybee a new intercooler? someone please help

Have you looked at your temperature guage when this happens?

yea the temperature gauge hasnt gone past the middle of the gauge thats why i was a little hesitant that this is the problem

codes possibly????? cooler ambient temps in am in maryland is way better condition for performance---and book is misleading---processor doesnt limit fuel in overheat condition it retards timings which lowers performance----sooooo i dont think temp is your problem ---condition probably is still there when you first start in morning it just gets masked by the better performance with ambient air temp

thats what happens, cuz when in the morning or at night it runs like a dream but in the middle of the day i get pissed off cuz i feel no power at all. i might just go and get it check out at my local shop cuz things like this might be hard to figure out over the internet.

another thing i just noticed today is when it runs fine the engine temp stays a little on the cool side but when it runs rough the engine temp goes up to about the middle of the gauge. and another question is this problem real bad to keep driving with or should i just try to drive it when there is no humidity and or cool air.

i would check the normal tune up stuff first--ive gotten some junk brand new out of the box and some of your normal tuneup stuff is temp sensitive( as in ignition coil(s) cracked porcelin in spark plug etc)
