1991 vette won't start

I recently purchased a 1991 corvette. When the car is cold, no problems starting it. If I drive it for 20min, stop the car, 10 min later, will not start. All the lights are on. I put a brand new battery in. I have to wait 2 1/2 hours or more, then it will start. The dealer rebuilt the existing starter. I don't believe he changed the solenoid.
Has anyone encountered this problem? What should I do? I am asking him to replace the starter with a brand new one (which comes with a solenoid).
Thanks

Did you find your problem? My 91 was running great, not problems, parked it one evening and the next day - nothing - it would not crank - no sounds of ignition problems or anything. All the lights work, battery is good, starter replaced, fuse links check - still won't start. Just searching for options.

I have an '86 corvette with the same problem. The car will start and park it, after awhile I try to start the car and it will not turn over. No cranking, the power antenna goes up, lights go on, dash board illuminates. I get frustrated, come back out and it starts up without a problem. This is an intermittent problem, so no mechanics seem to want to spend the time to get the car to "not start" and diagnose the problem. I have replaced the battery (twice). Replaced the starter. I have also had new keys made thinking was the resistance sensor in the key. Cost a lot of money for someone to say it works and have the same non-start top occur again.

I have to believe this is a known problem and there is a fix, just have to get to someone that has rectified the problem.

IF ANYONE HAS THE SOLUTION OR IDEAS IT WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED.

I just replaced my starter on sunday, it was giving me the same problem, I went to checkers autoparts to buy a cooling fan relay, and when I wanted to go back home it wouldnt start. That problem started happening like around 3 months ago, and it was getting worst and worst, at the beggining I would have to wait around 30 mins, but it got worst, waiting times of 2 hours or so. I was pissed, so I bought a new one right there, there was a mechanic shop right next door, so the guys there helped me push the car. I knew I had life time warranty on the old starter but I lost the receipt, stupid me, so Im gonna make sure I save it this time. It was the solenoid. Good luck :)

Next time it's a no start situtation, you need to see if there's voltage to the small starter solenoid post. I use a small screw driver to cross over from the + post to the small one (In neutral/park w/the brake on) if I can get to it.
75% of the time it's the starter/solenoid.
10% of the time it's the neutral/clutch switch.
10% chance it's an alarm/starter kill.
5% cahnce it's something else.

Good luck.

I have the same problem as Major5751 but just the opposite. When I try to start the car in the morning or when I leave work everything works, but when I turn the key it acts like the battery is dead just click click. But if I continue to turn the key off and on several times it will eventually start. But after I drive it usually 5 to 30 minuets doesn't really matter. I turn the motor off and do whatever I need to do get back in the car and bingo starts right up. My problem seems to be present when cold.has your car ever had this problem? Any ideas or help would be appreciated.
