Hello there!
I have a 66 straight 6. I am a new enthusiast to restoring a vehicle, always loved Mustangs never came across the opportunity till recently. I noticed my registration and pink say 66, but the side moldings are those of a 65. Any ideas???

The rockers may have 65 stamped in them in bold lettering, but this does not mean it is a '65. I worked on a '64 Fairlane that had a 65 stamping. I always check the taillights for years. There will be the last two digits of the year somewhere in the code on the lense, i.e. a 1966 will have 66 somewhere on the lense.

Ford part #'s start with a letter for the decade (I believe the 1960S was a C) then a number for the year. The easiest # to see is on the intake manifold, it's not definitive proof of the year but it will give you some evidence.

Don't always go by the tailight numbers, they can say anything from 64 to 66, on that era car there was no differnce.
