are all the awd transmissions the same? No. Different vehicles use different transmissions. Within the same vehicle model, there could even be several different transmission styles. Within the same year, and usually within a several year range, they are interchangable to some extent. However, even the same model transmission doesn't necessarily mean it is identical to yours. It would just mean it will mechanically fit. The gearing ration may be different for instance.

if not what are the part numbers of all of them?Depends on what year vehicle. Your local GM dealership can tell you the GM part number for the transmission. You can also visit a transmission shop and they should be able to help you
and where can i get a replacement? If you want to pay an obscene price, the dealership. Aftermarket rebuilders and independent tranmission shops will likely have a better price. Junk yards and part vehicles also can have what you want.

If you are looking for a tough tranny, AWD or not, I woudn't look at any Venture transmission. That is, unless you want to tear it apart and upgrade the commonly failed components. Do a search for "4T60 hard shift" or "4T65 hard shift" and you'll see what I mean.
I can't say for sure if the bolt patterns would be the same, but I would imagine that they would be.

i dont even know why i asked which one was the toughest since i am only going to tear it down and rebuild it.
im trying to find out tho witch one will bolt up to the 2.2L ecotec engine.

If you are looking for a direct bolt on, you probably will be disappointed. Here (http://www.charlietranny.com/4T60E%20WITH%20CONVERTER.JPG) is a picture of the bolt pattern for a 4T60E which should have the same bolt patern as the 4T65E.

Your best, (and probably only) bet would be to have an adapter plate made to mount the transmission up to an Ecotech. The bellhousing will mostly likely be different. I believe the Ecotechs use the 4T45-E tranny. GM most likely uses different bellhousings or cases for each engine family.

nah i know former gm tech only problem is he is not upto date on all this stuff, but he said that one of the awd trannys (he wasnt sure which) has the same bolt pattern as the ecotec.

could i get an adapter plate to use the awd tranny with a monte carlo 3.8 v6? i know it will have to be built up to handle the added power of the v6, but is it possible to get the awd tranny to work with the v6?

I'm sure it could be done. It'll have to be custom, so thats $$$ but anything is possible. I believe the AWD tranny is the 4T65 anyway, so you wouldn't need to beef it up much or at all unless your adding power to the motor your using. I'd guess you'd have to get a adapter plate made and have a longer input shaft put in it.
