Okay ... not necessarily F1 centric, but more a fun poll of opinion ...
Okay, here's a fun (I hope!) one.
Let's set the scene. The long lost uncle that emigrated to Australia years ago, shuffled off this mortal coil and his lawyers have contacted you to tell you the good news - you're the sole benificiary to the diamond, platinum and opel mining empire he founded.
Congratulations you've just landed the big one. You're competing now in MAJOR stakes. The new pad, resplendent with infinity swimming pools(!), jacuzzis, home cinema, hot tubs and helicopter pad to shuttle you to your awaiting Dassault Falcon or land you in the marina beside your Wallypower 118, also has 15 spaces in the garage. How would you fill it?
My suggestions:
1) Summer Sports Car - Ferrari F430 Spyder (Silverstone Silver)

2) Winter Sports Car - Lamborghini Gallardo E-Gear (Silver)

I don't really understand the desire to own 15 cars. For me, there would be as few as possible, as long as my "needs" are fulfilled. The "needs" would be:
Ultimate speed, handling, feedback...in short, an involving driving experience that is unassisted
Racing/track days
Transport on public roads
Comfort
Shopping (boot/trunk capacity)
Ability to carry passenger(s)
Discretion
Security
Off-roading (sometimes)
Trailering motorcycles (and sometimes, the car).
The McLaren F1 fulfills all these needs, except security, off-roading, and towing. The LM is too noisy, and the GTRs too raw. So I would get a regular F1, possibly with a HDF. For off-roading, security, and towing, I would have a fairly custom SUV, perhaps the Range Rover. This way, I could also tow the McLaren if I needed to.
Thus, my list:
1. McLaren F1 (with HDF).
2. Armored Range Rover/Lexus/some other SUV.
$1.3 mill for the McLaren. $200k for the SUV. $1.5 million total. Done.
I certainly like most of the cars that others have chosen for their collections. Murray, the Tramontana looks very interesting :)
BTW, did your question exclude motorcycles on purpose, or are they included? I would definitely have a couple of motorcycles as well...probably a Honda Trans-Alp for off-roading/enduros, a Kawasaski ZX-10R to go as fast as the McLaren (but only up to 200mph!), and Britten V-twin to race/drool over.
Everybody else, could I ask you to go back and put in prices next to each of your cars, as well as the total? Thanks.

I completely agree. Even Lottery winning I dont think Id need 4+ cars. And after hearing what Leno said about the wiper on his F1, I dont think £2-3M would be enough to run an F1 properly!
So the list as of today is:

That MV special edition is 45k GBP over there? It's 45k US dollars over here --virtually half price. You should buy one in the US and ship it over, after a fantastic motorcycling holiday, of course. I went to help a friend buy a Ducati 996 and one of them was on display at the store...it was quite tempting!
BTW, I think 2 million GBP would be enough to run a McLaren F1. $1.3 million GBP (amount left over after purchase) should easily cover refitting, servicing, major parts, shipping to anywhere in the world, insurance, and fuel. What else is there?
And the CSL...what purpose would that serve that the McLaren doesn't? Stealth? A McLaren can be fairly understated, but I can understand the need to have something, anything, else to show up in sometimes. Or is there another purpose for the CSL which the McLaren cannot fulfill?

I had the price wrong its £30K for the MV. As for running an F1, I only expect to win the Lottery once. So that £3M has got to set me up for life. I know you can expect 5-10% interest on that. But unless I won over £10M I wouldnt buy an F1. Simple as. I couldnt justify haveing 1/3 of my worth tied up in 1 thing. Hell, I wouldnt pay more than £400K for a house out of principle :D Its got to pay for a wife a family and all the other un-expected bills that come along.
And I definetly wouldnt run the car every day. Its a nice weekend thing. Cane it around a circuit thing. London isnt the most welcoming place to have anything too flashy, and I would expect it to be keyed at least once if I used it all the time. Im surprised Rowan is happy to use his, but then he is worth several Million. CSL is to the uneducated another M3. And there are hundreds of M3s floating around. Its not too flashy that it attracts unwanted attention, but it goes nicely, and has room to carry 4 people and their luggage. Thats why Id choose it as an everyday car.
Im not by nature a showy person. I like to have nice things of course, but I'll rather take a Tag watch over a diamond encrusted Cartier. And a nicely furnished 3 bed house over a 5 bed mansion with Swimming pool and golf course.
Its all dreams of course :)

Good choice but it would be nearly impossible to drive on the street or with street tires. That's why I'd go with the 3 rotor + the 4 is pretty damn heavy to but then again 780 N/a isn't bad lol. The problem is no torque until you get to F1 Rpm's...

well the wally power is just amazing. i will not talk about it that much becasue this is not a forum for that. but i Noticed that it called the attetion to some people here. and it's OK to know some things about everything...HEHEH!
In design and technoloy is something out of this world. if you go to the movies to watch THE ISLAND, ther u will se some scenes with that boat.
some curious things about that boat, first it looks like it's a small fast boat, but if you see a person on it, then you will notice how big it is.
it has more than 25.000 HP with 3 jet propulsion turbines and can reach 100 Km/h on water. and every year the boat has to be taken to the factory like the McLaren F1, and it gets re-assembled all over again because, with time, the boat looses its rigidity from the torsion and great effort it suffers from the speed and the power it has.
and it has Fuel turbines, so you can imagine how much fuel it needs to make 1 km ahh and yes...it is all in carbon fiber...everything inside. well almost everything. Price? 18 Mclaren F1's

I don't really understand the desire to own 15 cars.
For me, it's akin to an art connossieur buying paintings ... most on my list are chosen for their aesthetic beauty and crushing performance. Others, like the Overfinch Range Rover Supercharged and Bentley Arnage T, would be selected for their day-to-day abilities. The Bugatti Type 35 SC, of which there are only 3 in the world (so priceless), purely for the for art deco design.
That aside, I'd reckon many on my list, and on others lists too, would, if carefully stored and used, make excellent longer-term investments, with appreciating residuals.

Thanks for explaining that. I can certainly appreciate this viewpoint/approach. I would love to tour a connoisseur's collection, with each item painstakingly acquired.

According to www.wally.com:
Power = 3x 5600 HP
Fuel consumption = 15 gal/nm = 27 gal/kilometer

I've been in that fortunate position ... seeing both modern supercars (F1GTR, F40, 7(!!!) XJ220's, XJR-15, etc.) lined up beside vintage and veteran racing Jaguars with HUGE provenance, collected from around the globe, in one collector's, self-named, "toy box"!

If you can afford to buy and crew a 118 foot Monster Poweryacht, the question over fuel consumption ain't going to be too much of an issue.
That said, for a mere mortal like me, those are SCARY figures indeed!

There's speculation that he hasn't sold it yet ...
As to why he's disposed of it/trying to dispose of it ... not a clue, as I left Scotland and lost contact with Larry a while back ...
Maybe he got bored of it ...!

I think that'll just about do it, until you give me some more garage space. They'll all leave me with a :grinno: on my face.
