Well I just got owned by the state of Oregon. I got a speeding ticket for 77 in a 55. The fine is $237.

What can I do here?

I'm not sure if Oregon will let you plea bargin or not, if they do and let you take traffic school/defensive driving school so that the ticket doesn't go on your record I would go for it.

My first step if I were you would to find a lawyer, preferrable a family friend or someone you know if possible (that way the cost wont be bad). They can pretty much handle everything.

Definately contest the ticket though, it can never hurt unless your to busy to show up in court. Don't just pay the fine, or it will add points to your liscense, your insurance will get raised up a lot as well.

Not true. I have never seen so many dead animals in my life. I even saw a dead moose on Powder River Pass last week. I don't need to tell you how deadly hitting a moose could be.

But your mostly right about nothing to hit.

In Indiana 12mph over the posted speed limit is constituted as reckless drive and 4 points(D.D. classes get them takin off). So 21mph over, I'd at least contest and say you were going slower and agree to pay the fine but at "what you say you were driviing' not the 77. You probley hav no chance of getting it droped, unless it was a medical emergency, but you can get the price reduced. I hav had hundreds of speeding tickets, lots of "unsafe start from stoped possition" Sometimes you win and some you loose.

I hav had public defenders and I've hav top dollar attornys, it didnt make much differance, here anyways, even represented myself a couple times and got the fines reduced, but not droped. Good Luck ec437!
