94Blazer 4.3 Fuses

I have been getting a few dig dash problems lately, (flickering odometer, missing temp gauge) So I decided to check my fuses. What I found was a couple of fuses missing and a few put into the wrong place vs. what is shown in my manual. I was wondering if there is any good reason a mechanic or dealer would have left fuse holders empty or put lower amp fuses in a high amp fuse slot? I am a complete car novice so bear with me.

Edit: I should clarfy. I am interested more in knowing if there is any reason that "I" shouldn't install fuses into the missing fuse slots. the only one that comes to mind as missing right now is TCCM.

tccm is transfer case control module. its for 4wd blazers only. if your truck is 2wd, you shouldnt have a fuse there. if your truck is 4wd, and you are missing that fuse, your 4wd wont operate properly if at all.

I also have a 94 and I say that you should always follow the factory recommendations on fuse sizing unless you have modified the circut and have a need for a different amp fuse. If you got the truck used then someone probably changed out the fuse and didn't have the correct size. Also if aftermarket accessories have been added then they might be drawing power from a spare slot that is not factory identified. You can do this by removing the shunt from the slot and adding the required power wire and fuse. Chilton makes a manual for your truck that has electrical information plus wiring diagrams for around 15.00.

by the way, my dash recently started having problems as well. i also have the digital dash. and just the other day everything went out, totally dark except the indicator lights. did a little research and found its a common problem with those specific digital dashs. the problem lies in one or more of the components of the motherboard for the dash. the motherboard is the entire backside of the dash cluster.

so i went on ebay and found a guy who runs his own business remanufacturing these specific dash panels along with a few others. he sells just the motherboard for $59 and some change, has free shipping in the lower 48 states, and gives a 1 year warranty, and the option for an extended warranty. only requirement is you have to send your busted motherboard back to him once you install the "new" one and verify that it works for the warranty to be put into effect. if you dont ship the old one back, he offers no warranty. and as for shipping the old one back, thats free too, he pays the shipping to send the old one back.

you should look into it if you still need you dash fixed, cuz it is exactly what you need, and it is what i am buying this week. search the seller name: caferacer1 and you will find what i am referring to.
