waiting for it to blow

'91 stealth r/t, dohc, automatic

ok so it started off last june when car just started stalling out and you could hear something clicking on and off behind the dash. Turned out the computer fried somehow and would just click on and off at very low RPMs. So i fixed that and then the car ran pretty good.

then the engine started to sputter with a load or if you floored it. well that didnt last too long until it got really bad. now when you floor it you hear the engine cutting out and sputtering making this disqusting sound and im almost ready for it to blow up on me.

I don't think its the plugs, but I could be wrong, and the wires look fine. the MAS is still plugged in, I even unplugged it and plugged it back in. And there are flat spots in the...power band? Like when you floor it it gets up to about 4.5 RPMs and then just stays there, take my foot off and put it back on and the RPms move again and tranny shifts.

anyone have any ideas? I've never heard a car sound like this or do this. well im gonna go change the plugs now

Change the wires... Everything you have said pretty much indecates that the is not enough voltage to create a spark accross the gap.

sounds like plugs or wires...you can't really tell if you need wires just by looking at them.

One way to test the wires is to spray water on them while the car is running and look for arcing, best to do it in the dark...or run something thats grounded and conducts electricity (like a test light) along each wire and watch for arcs (also wet and running)....obviously you don't wanna do this with bare hands, since theres enough voltage to kill you if you get stuck on it and throw you if you dont get stuck.

I'd replace plugs and wires if I were you.

well i went to check the plugs and the wires just ripped apart so i got new wires and plugs and shes back to normal. Better than when i bought the car actually. I just thought it would be a bigger more exspensive problem. thanks
