Escort blinkers

Help!! My blinkers won't work when the car is started, but work when the ignition is in the "on" position. Could it be a relay? Any advice would be appreciated.

What year? Do the hazards work when the engine is running? If not I'd say the flasher is bad.

It's an '89. The hazards work fine. I've replaced the flasher, but the problem is the same. Thanks.

Arrrghh! I've now discovered that my blower motor for the heater is out too. Could this be related?
