I had a ripped boot on my car for about 2 months now and its really starting to draw alot of attention from the constant popping sounds. I went to the near by autozone and special ordered the axle they have listed which was CCT 6734. Didn't fit. I could have just gone to advance auto parts and ordered Cardone's 603263 which is also supposed to be for my car but I dont know if it is the same size as the one from CCT. The axle pulled from my car is about .1" in diameter than the new one. It also has fewer splines. When talking to customer support they said it is likely that my transmission was swapped either because the stock one was burnt out or wanted to make it faster. Of course I thought the only tranny that would fit was stock mitsubishi's. What would a stock tranny model number be though?
The sticker under the hood lists:
Engine 4G63
Trans F5M33
The engine stamp reads:
4G63
YX8533
The Tranny stamp reads:
KF5M332SPZT
WJ6680
Would that model be a stock tranny? or should any axle fit?

why do i always ask the questions nobody knows the answer to?
one thing that would help is if everyone that has a "99 eclipse gst with a manual tranny" please list your tranny's model number. I am looking for the letters on the tranny itself not the letters on the hood sticker. This would greatly help me distinguish the difference between mine and stock.

Damn, I'd help you but I've got the AWD trans. '99 and everything though! For anyone that wants to help him I believe the trans number is near the top close to the motor. Is that right?

thats right but ive about given up on it. Im going to take the axle to have it measured and compared with others but that will take a day or so. I just want the lifetime warranty. I just found a place in town that will rebuild it for 60 but no warranty.

Holy crap, I know exactly what your saying. I had the exact same problem. I had to order it 5 times to get it right, it took a month! And i finally ordered the one for the oposite side and got it right! I used to work of advanced auto and we had tons of returns on those, CCT has lots of problems with getting the right spline counts and dimensions. Autozone has exactly the same problem. I know that NAPA carries a company that makes brand new ones that will fit with warrenty, and if you want the best go to a dealer. Having it rebuilt might be your best option because you know your getting the right shaft, its your call, but i would recomend staying away from Advance and Autozone with CV shafts, there tricky.

i just wonder why they cant look up the tranny number and figure out what will fit it, ive tried cross referencing the only 5 numbers on the axle but came up empty. anyone know any websites that you can buy transmissions? Just for referencing.
