one bright and one dim headlight

Just received a Dodge Ram 1500 and trying to get it ready for inspection. I have a problem that I never ran into before with the headlights. The left headlight is nice and bright, while the passenger side is barely visible. Have changed bulbs in both with same result. I figure that it is a bad ground or excessive resistance, but where to start?

Just thinking out loud here, but is it possible that one headlight is severly out of alignment thus is appearing dim compared to the other??

your assumption is correct on the ground theory, make sure the body grounds are ok and not corroded & are tightened properly. If you have access to a voltmeter, connect your positive lead to the ground terminal of the headlight electrical connector and the negative lead to a good engine/body ground. If you read more than 0.5V, you have a bad ground. Ground voltage should be no more than 0V.
