I need help with missing problem

I need some help with the 92 olds cutlass cie I just got, it's a 3.3 with 68K on it.

I checked it out the trans wires was off, I put them back on again. Also a few vac lines was bad, I changed them out with good ones. The air filter front hose was off, I put that back on and a new filter. I put a bottle, of fuel injector cleaner as well. The service engine light, did go off after doing these things and is still off.

But it still misses/stumbles when I have my foot on the gas, it will sit and run pretty good. But once I take off it will miss some times, the harder the car is under load. The worst the miss gets, but some times it seems to almost go away though.

When I stay below 40 MPH it's not very noticeable even, but at 55 to 60 MHP it's very noticeable. I don't have a lot of funds right now, to change out a lot of stuff. So I need to find the problem, and fix it with out replacing stuff till it's fixed.

At this point, I'm thinking it could be these things. A coil pack, a senor, fuel pump, a injector, spark plug or wire. The belt look good but hard to tell, or plugged cat convert as well. The timing advance could be off, or even the fuel filter. I'll be changing the fuel filter, not the one in the tank on the fuel pump. But the in line one it has, I got one to replace the old one, just didn't have time to change it out yet.

The thing I find very odd is, that with the vac leaking from the bad lines. And the trans wire off it, fixing these problems should of help the problem. But all it did really, was shut off the service engine soon light. These problems them selfs, could of made this missing problem, but did nothing to stop it even once they was fixed.

This is the only car, I have to run at the time. So I can use some input A.S.A.P., so I can fix the problem. Thanks! Tim

Start with the plugs, wires and fuel filter. They should take care of the majority of problems. If that does not help then replace the coil. You may want to purchase a can of throttle body cleaner and clean both the throttle body and the idle air control motor. And one other inexpensive item is a new PCV if the engine has one which it should.

I tried a few more things, I read about cleaning the MAF so I did that. And traced all vacum hoses, found one more bad one and replaced that as well. And took the pos battery cable off, then took it for a test drive to see if it help it. And it did not miss/stumble any, and had good power as well.

The MAF sensor had a lite grey coating on one wire, and the vacum hose was most likely leaking. And resetting the computer can never hurt, so hopefully it will keep running good. Boy it has a lot of power for sure, nice take off. And it pulls up hills easy, and the shifts are firm as well.

I'm sure I will like the car, took some getting use to the easy steering on it. But it don't pull at all, and looks like new front end ball joints and stuff on it. And with only 68K on it, it should last me a good 100k yet if I take care of it good.

I will do all the things you said as well, plus change the oil and trans filters as well. It's stuff that needs to be done, I had to change out the rubber brake lines in the front. To get it inspected, but it passed after I changed them out. We don't have a emissions test here in pottsville pa, we only need to have the stuff in place and looking like it works. :)
