car won't start

I have a 1990 Cutlass cierra. The car will start and run for
about 30 seconds or until you give it gas,then it immediately stalls. I am getting
a code 42. Also the radio antennae wants to keep going. Can you tell me
what is wrong and what I need to do to fix it.

Change the ignition module under the coil. That is what the code indicates. It is fairly expensive but not hard to change.

As for the antenna, check the ground wire it may be loose or corroded.

We took out rhe coils and module and they checked out ok at auto zone.:-(

Try some fuel injector cleaner. I had the exact same problem with my 87 Cutlass Ciera. That is all that I did and it fixed it just fine.

I disconnected the connectors to the fuel injectors one at a time. When I disconnected the 3rd one the car started. I assume that means that fuel injector is bad. Do you know a site that will tell me how to change it?

What size engine do you have? The procedure is the same but different engines require that different parts be removed. Before changing the injector check and make sure the problem isn't with the wiring being shorted out rather than the injector being bad. If the wiring is OK we will proceed further.

I have a 3.3 , there is voltage at the connector and like no ohms accross the injector

Then you are correct about the injector being bad. To get to the injector you will need to remove everything in your way. On the 3.3 I don't believe there is too much that has to be removed. Once you get to the fuel rail then you must relieve the fuel pressure on the system. After the fuel pressure is removed then loosen the bolts holding the fuel rail in place and gently pull the injectors on that side of the engine out of the block. The injector should be connected to the fuel rail either with a simple compression fit or with a clip. Remove the injector from the fuel rail and then replace in reverse order. You may want to purchase new o-rings and replace them while you are there. Before installing in the block coat with petroleum jelly. Makes them go in easier and they seal better. Put everything back together and the job should be done. The system will recharge itself once you turn the key on.
