96 jetta 1582 code

the CEL on my 96 jetta gls stays on. the mechanic gave me the code 1582 - idle stabilizing malfunction. is this similar to the previously posted threads concerning the throttle valve/body cleaning & maf sensor? or do i have to replace the idle stabilization valve?

That would be a last resort. Try the cleaning first.
