Bolt configuration for Hitch

I have a 96 blazer 4 door 4 whee drive. I went to the junk yard and bought a pretty decent tubular receiver hitch for it. The bolts on the frame look like they will match up. But the receiver is also the bumper mount and it has a total of 8 bolts to attach the bumper too. My bumper only has a total of 4 bolts that connect it. My 4 bolts do not align with any of the 8 bolts on the receiver hitch. Anyone else seen this problem? I even found someone with a blazer and a hitch and looked at it. The bolts will not allow my old bumper to be reattached.

well, you can always drill oles for the extra bolts.
But if it doesn't fit, I wouldn't force it.

I wouldn't reccommend drilling the receiver to match your bumper.
I'd return the unit and ask them to find one that fits your specific truck.
(does the bone yard belong to a junk yard locator program?)
All the aftermarket manufacturers make these units to bolt right on, no modifications needed. You may compromise the ability/limits of the receiver by adding extra holes in the flanges.

No, it won't ruin the hitch at all and since when do universal hitches FIT PERFECTLY on ever truck.
But really, I would get one that fits.

I mounted the hitch on the truck. The hitch fit great, again the bumper did not fit good, I drilled a couple holes in the bumper to mount it to the holes on the hitch, but it looks like crap. It does not line up with the bumper endcaps.
Is it possible that I can put a bumper on from a 99 (the step is below the license plat) on my truck? My bumper has the license below the step. Do you think the curve of the bumper endcaps, which are part of the quarter panels will match the curve of the new bumper?
Thanks guys for your assistance.
