They are different.

Dunno how I misses it before but if its a SL it is a DOHC. If its a 97 SOHC then its a base.

you will fry the battery

Huh??? Why do you say that. The altenator would work if it bolted up but the casing is different and the wiring is slightly different. Thats all. Other than that they are the same internally. Some DOHC alts got a higher amp output though but that still wouldnt fry the battery

well then it will overcharge the battery and then it will boil it...then it will dry it...he doesn't have enough electrical demand like the dohc engine or the sl package...which in an easy street language we say..."fry battery)

Sorry but you are dead wrong. People have actually gutted a DOHC altenator and put it in the insides of a SOHC alt to have the higher amperage. Guess what. It worked just fine.

Just to disprove ya a little more what about base 3k's and ES Stealths?? They dont have as much stuff as a SL now do they? Yet they run the same alt.;)

A higher amperage alternator won't fry a battery unless the voltage regulator in it is broken...it's not gonna suppy any charge past 14-15 volts. So what im still wondering is...is your car an SL or a base NVETHIS??
