I found out that a 1994 Villager can tow 3500 lbs. with the tow package and a weight distribution hitch.
How can you tell if you have the Tow Package with the 3.27:1 axle ratio?
How is a weight distribution hitch different from a standard hitch?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Chris

I'm towing a little over 2000 lbs with my '02 which as far as I know does not have a tow package ( I have a Sport, I think the Estate had the tow pkg.) . A weight distribution hitch basically means it attaches to the frame. Gas mileage is poor (goes from 25 hwy to about 15) and stopping is dicy so don't tailgate.

IF you have the tow package you will have the cables for the tow hitch installed.

Did the tow pkg consist of more than trailer wires?

The factory tow package consisted of full size spare tire, wiring harness with a 4 pin connector, and additional transmission oil cooler. To get to 3500 pound towing capacity - you needed the additional transmission oil cooler. The wiring harness is up underneath the rear bumper and is a 6 pin female connector with a 2 foot adapter that has a 6 pin male on one end and a 4 pin on the other end.
You had to add the weight distribution hitch, which bolted up to pre-drilled and tapped holes in the frame.
Hope this helps.
