bad transmission

The a/t in my wife's '95 g20 gave out last week. It seems the torque converter is slipping badly. A local shop wants $2500 to fix :eek: . Is this outrageous or what? The car has 103K on the clock. I haven't had any problems with the car 'till now.

Anybody know of a good shop in the Houston/Clear Lake area?
