Selling Eclipse, Getting Civic

Well, there's so much wrong with my 93 Eclipse, that I'm selling it and getting a.....Civic. I bought my Eclipse for $1,700, but it's going to cost $2000-3000 to fix. I feel like Judas and that I've just betrayed Christ on this one. But due to gas prices, insurance, and me still being in high school, I really think this is the best choice. I'll go out and get an AWD Eclipse or IROC-Z after high school I guess. Ya'll feelin me on this one? Anybody ever done/thought about doing this?

Agreed.

Gas mileage is not that bad in these cars if you keep up the maintenance on them. I get close to 35 mpg on the interstate and 25/26 average after I switched to a stronger coil, thicker plug wires, and iridium plugs. Then keep the oil changed and air filter clean, and drive it decent, and you will get decent mileage. So if your only reason is for gas mileage, then think twice.

I get shit gas mileage, and I do the maintenance, Im tlking 18 mpg burb driven

Well gas mileage isn't really a concern. Really, it would cost more to fix up the car than it would to buy a turbo eclipse. But gas mileage is a concern since I have to drive about 20 miles both ways from home to school and from school to work. I really can't complain about the gas mileage, but if I'm having to get something, then why not go ahead and get something that handles the gas better? $6.50/hour doesn't leave a whole lot of room for a great car plus mods, and since they're very low maintenance I won't have to worry about blowing money on that. By NOOOO means am I going to even fathom racing this car. I'd rather die than be caught trying to race in a Civic. It's basically going to hold me over so that I can save money for another Eclipse. After that, I'll dump it.

I only get 6.50 and I can still pay for my mods, gas, insurance, food, clothes, mortgage, etc. Try workin more

-But if you are looking for a more conservative car a civic would be more pratical. I would probably have a lot more extra :2cents: if I never had bought an eclipse but hey it still seems worth it some how...

So yeah....not to sound like a complete hipocrite, but I'm actually thinking about getting a Prelude if I can afford it. I really didn't think they were as nice as they really were and still had the Honda reliability. So I'm possibly the worst Eclipse owner ever....but oh well. The VTEC makes almost the same power as a turbo Eclipse, but with a bit less torque from a n/a engine. Please don't flame me...haha. I'll let ya'll know how it goes, but I'm still coming here for performance tips because you guys (and girls) are about the best to come to, I'll just let you think I still have an Eclipse.

Did you seriously just say the vtec makes almost the same amount of power as a turbo eclipse? :nono: Also I test drove a prelude and I dono what all the hype is, to me it felt slow but better than most other hondas though.

I guess my question would be "What type of civic are you looking for?" You may find that a suitable civic will tithe you over until you can afford the eclipse you want.

You guys are looking at this all wrong....I'd rather have an Eclipse over any Honda any day, and depending on how much I've saved I might be able to get one instead of a Honda. But the Prelude VTEC makes about 200HP, and the Eclipse makes like 200-220HP STOCK. STOCK, ok? I know with little effort you can make more blah blah blah. Some people are just so use to trying to defend the DSM that they can't tell when people are making a realistic comparison. And before anybody ELSE says it... DSM>HONDUH I know. Also...black97gst, does it hurt being that stupid? Not that I'm saying you're dumb or anything, but you're dumb.
